Photography – The Madonna Inn

Ever since I was a kid I’ve heard stories about the Madonna Inn. My parents were newly weds in the mid 1970s and spent a lot of time there during Anniversaries or Valentine’s Day. It always seemed like one big adult Disneyland. Each room is uniquely decorated in a specific theme. It’s cheesy and maybe a little tacky, but it’s also fun. I finally had a chance to stay there in February after so many years of wanting to try it out. It is one of the few destination where I would be more than willing to switch rooms each night just to try out the different funky themes. My favorite is the cave room, or Rock Bottom, I believe it was called. The only thing that made it a bit uncomfortable was waking up at 5:00AM in the morning and hoping that there wasn’t going to be an earthquake as I looked up at the ceiling completely composed of real embedded rocks and boulders. Fortunately, there was no earthquake and I lived to enjoy the place and show the images from that trip.

Just outside of the MadonnaInn there was a horseless carriage rally with all sort of turn of the century cars such as Ford Model-Ts.
